Home Elevations - I

Most residential subdivisions in the Town of Gilbert have only one architectural style. This is typically loosely interpreted Spanish style. There may be several elevations, but they are usually quite similar.

The Town of Gilbert has approved all of the elevations for the homes at Agritopia. Some of the elevations depict homes that have options and optional finishes.

There are five floorplans and each floorplan to has four elevations. Each elevation is a totally different but compatible architectural style. These styles are Craftsman/California Bungalow, Spanish Eclectic, Northern European Revival, and Arizona Territorial. Each style comes in four paint schemes. This means that there can be 80 different homes (before other exterior options). We think that this will make for a neighborhood with lots of variety -- even more variety than in many custom home neighborhoods.

Northern European Plan 1

The home shown in this rendering is one of the smaller homes (Plan1) built using the Northern European Revival architectural style. It is also shown with optional basement and stone facings.

Spanish Eclectic Plan 2

This home is a mid-sized home (Plan 2) built using the Spanish Eclectic architectural style. It is also shown with optional basement.

The architectural styles used at Agritopia were not selected at random. We examined real neighborhoods in the Metro Phoenix area that were built prior to 1950. By taking note of the different styles in those neighborhoods, we were able to pick styles that would harmonize, yet offer many choices.

Factoid

Northern European Revival is our term for the grouping of Tudor Revival and French Revival. Both styles were quite popular from 1915 to 1945. Some of the more flamboyant examples feature turrets, castle motifs, and thatch roofs.

Factoid

Spanish Eclectic is a very common style in older neighborhoods. It was popular from 1910 to 1940.
